Why it matters

Every cut is recorded.
Few are easy to find.

Network operators record every power cut and report the totals to Ofgem. Some publish the details in technical data files, some only to registered users, and some not at all. None of them make it easy to see how often your own street loses power.

Four unplanned power cuts of three hours or more between April and March can entitle a household to £100, but the payment isn’t automatic and few people claim it. PowerLogs keeps the record for your postcode and tells you as soon as you may be able to claim.
